Humanity’s true moral test

“Humanity’s true moral test, its fundamental test (which lies deeply buried from view), consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy: animals.”
Milan Kundera The Unbearable Lightness of Being, 1984

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated " Mahatma Gandhi

Overpopulation is killing this planet
« on: December 04, 2009, 04:55:02 PM »
We witness the immense struggle of wildlife to survive in an increasingly hostile, modern world, invaded and destroyed by the human species. There is simply nowhere for them to go.Their habitats destroyed, they are systematically exterminated at an ever-increasing speed.

The Human race is guilty of conservational, ecological and environmental crimes. What we are doing to all other species is murder!  It is ecocide!

We inherited this planet from them in pristine condition. In less than 100 years of so called civilisation using technology, we have managed to destroy what took more than 3 billion years to evolve. Entire species are being wiped out. We kill everything we touch. We are vermin.
The malignant tumour called the human race has now metastasised and run out of space, land, soil, air, water and landfill sites. The only thing we haven't run out of, unfortunately, is people. 7 billion and rising fast !

The main culprit of this ecological disaster is religion, Christianity being the worst, as it keeps the prolific uteruses busy, spitting children out at a fast rate. And when they can't procreate naturally, in-vitro fertilisation is there, readily available, speeding up the breeding process, revving it up to turbo breeding.
We breed. We have litters. We are vermin. The metastasised tumour has to be extirpated.

It is too late to stabilise our numbers now, this should have been done decades, if not centuries ago. By now the human population should have been in sharp decline, unfortunately it is spiralling out of control at a super fast speed.

The human species does not respond to reason, but coercion. The stricter and harsher the rules and punishments, the better and faster the results.

Human overpopulation is killing everything around us. The sad thing is that very few people are aware of this. On the contrary, the vast majority thinks that there aren't enough of us, that we should have more children
Some examples of news headlines: 'Birth rates are decreasing.Disaster ' or 'With fewer children who is going to pay our pensions' or the classic stereotype: 'We'll end up with a pyramid standing on its head'.

The media is circulating this aspect ad nauseam, with extensive articles and photos of breakthroughs in fertility treatments, never ending articles about maternity, fertility and baby-related issues, showing celebrities 'sporting' bumps.

One mention of the word 'abortion' and in matter of hours demonstrations of pro-life  and other religious groups are assembled, waving their crosses, chanting hymns and shaking their bibles.
Well, as much as I hate it, I must take my hat off to them. These groups are well organised, springing into action straight away. We are not. This is the tragedy.
They are thick, ignorant, dumb, uneducated, and in huge numbers. They pray and breed incessantly.

There must be millions (hopefully hundreds or thousands of millions) of people like me ready to act, ready for 'gloves are off '. But we act independently, in a sporadic, isolated, disorganised manner. That's why we are ignored. We are not united. We do not co-ordinate our actions. We don't belong to a single, strong, determined and undeterred movement against overpopulation.

We have to bring this issue to everybody's attention, to act in a very bold way and to use the media.
Making small waves around overpopulation is simply not good enough. We need tsunamis now.

A good way to start this is to protest outside maternities, IVF clinics, Mothercare shops, etc. This has never been done before, nobody had the guts. I am sure that news and photos of such organised protests will make headlines in all countries, since it's such a contrast to the mass worldwide hysteria every time a baby is born or whenever one dies.
Messages like :"Overpopulation kills ",  "Stop out-of-control birth rates",  "Stop the human breeding",  "We live longer. We breed more. Stop",  "Birth control, no birth rates ",  "We are too many. Stop",  "No more bumps. Overpopulation kills" , will be the opposite of the old tune played for decades.

Our voices have been silenced, ignored, intimidated, ridiculed, regarded as ' evil' ' doom and gloom ' preachers for far too long. It is our fault for not having the strength to stand up to them, for not being in contact with each other, for not joining all our efforts, for not building a world-wide-web of voices of truth. And for this we should hang our heads in shame.

I grieve for the species that we murdered, their extermination weighs heavily on my conscience. I grieve for the species that cannot be brought back and which died by our hands.
We failed them. Through my silence I gave my consent
It might even be too late for the remaining ones, but we owe it to them to rebel and fight the human overpopulation.

I am not worried that humans would eventually die. It is OK. We deserve it. It is our undoing. The rest of the animal kingdom does not. They have done nothing wrong. The sooner we perish the better, giving this planet a chance to heal and start over. It's a very slim chance, but still, a chance.

We all know that climate talks will be just that...talks.  Empty words, nothing more. Either in Copenhagen, or next year wherever it will be held. Overpopulation will barely be mentioned, if at all.

It is down to us. And for this we must be prepared to fight, to take up arms if necessary, to have the Global Ecological Movement ready. What we CAN and MUST do in the meantime is prepare the ground, make our voices heard, in a completely new and attention-grabbing way.
As I said before, let's create tsunamis around overpopulation and total ecological collapse through protests and manifestations and the media will carry the waves all over the globe.

Go Veggie

One person will eat: 2750 fish, 1158 chickens, 4 cattle,1 goose, 18 pigs, 39 turkeys, 28 ducks, 23 sheep and 1 rabbit in their lifetime. Going veggie and helping others go veggie is the most important thing we can do to help animals.
