Humanity’s true moral test

“Humanity’s true moral test, its fundamental test (which lies deeply buried from view), consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy: animals.”
Milan Kundera The Unbearable Lightness of Being, 1984

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated " Mahatma Gandhi

Urgent: One day left to stop whaling. Email the European ministers now.

On Friday at the IWC meeting, EU members will vote as a block on Greenland’s demand to add ten humpback whales to its quota. If it votes the wrong way, there will be devastating consequences for whales and for future EU environmental decisions.

Most EU countries do not support whaling, or Greenland’s request to kill more whales. But a small minority do, and if the EU members of the IWC cannot reach a consensus, they will be forced to abstain.

Why does this vote matter?

EU countries make up nearly 30 per cent of the IWC, and other IWC members are likely to follow their lead. If EU members are forced to abstain, Greenland’s proposal could easily be adopted, opening the floodgates to more whaling allowances.

I’ve just taken action to protect whales. Please join me in calling for an end to this cruelty.

Go Veggie

One person will eat: 2750 fish, 1158 chickens, 4 cattle,1 goose, 18 pigs, 39 turkeys, 28 ducks, 23 sheep and 1 rabbit in their lifetime. Going veggie and helping others go veggie is the most important thing we can do to help animals.
